Elliot Collins - Managing Director

Elliot Collins is the founder and managing director of Hartnall Collins, a traditional construction company based in Berkhamsted, England. With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Elliot began his career working for a local building contractor, gaining invaluable experience in onsite trades, site management, estimating, buying, and commercial aspects of the business. He later worked for prominent construction firms such as J Jarvis and Son and Galliford Try, as well as in the fit-out sector.

Drawing on his extensive experience across industrial, commercial, educational, and residential sectors, Elliot established Hartnall Collins with a trade-based management team that fully understands the construction process, technical details, and construction products. This approach ensures clients receive quality projects that are both financially successful and meet their expectations.

Elliot remains passionate about construction and upholds the philosophy that "you are only as good as your last project," striving for excellence in every endeavour. 

With a strong background in carpentry and experience running his own business, Chaz brings hands-on expertise and a keen eye for detail to every project. Now serving as Contracts Manager at Hartnall Collins, he combines financial acumen with project oversight to ensure smooth operations and successful project delivery. Chaz excels at managing contracts, streamlining processes, and coordinating teams to keep projects on track and within budget. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and making the most of his free time through outdoor activities. Known for his problem-solving skills and collaborative approach, Chaz is a key part of the Hartnall Collins team.

Carrying an extensive construction background spanning rail, civils, residential, and commercial sectors, Sam is a highly skilled and versatile Technical Manager. Sam’s career in construction began with an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery, and from there he realised he had a keen eye for detail. 

His industry knowledge and problem-solving expertise make him an invaluable asset to any project, ensuring technical excellence from concept to completion. Sam’s solution providing abilities enable him to navigate complex challenges with precision and efficiency. 

His commitment to innovation and quality have made Sam an essential part of the Hartnall Collins team since 2020. Outside of work, he is a family man who also tries to enjoy playing golf, as well as being an indispensable member of his local darts team.

Malar is a dedicated and accomplished Administration & Finance personnel who joined us in 2012. With 21 years under her belt in Corporate Training and Quality Assurance, Malar shifted her portfolio to Construction Industry and effectively demonstrates proficiency in office management consistently driving positive results. 

Malar has worked with service providers and merchants contributing meaningfully to the achievement of organizational goals. Malar is focused on cultivating excellence and fostering innovation within her field of expertise. 

Beyond her professional endeavours, Malar engages in extensive family time, aspiring to be a self-taught entrepreneur as she is a clay artist in the making- which enriches her personal and professional experiences.

  After a long career within national construction companies at a senior level, Derek brings expertise on large and small, new and refurbishment construction works under various forms of contracts within the South East of England and London region. Experience gained within Design and Build forms of contract allows a better early ability to advise client’s on their build requirements within a budget and time frame, and being able to evaluate design and build decisions incorporating all statutory bodies, design team and specialist suppliers and installers to minimise risk to deliver projects in a open and trusting co-operation.
